SIMPLE AND SECURE REMOTE ACCESS WITH A HOSTED / CLOUD SOLUTION

THE CLIENT
Incite is a market research company based in High Holborn in London.  They have built their 11-year-old business on four principles: talent, rigor, debate, and communication.  Their team of Senior Consultants provides brand consultation services to many companies, such as Capital One, eBay, Vodafone and Royal Mail.

NEEDS and CHALLENGES

Incite’s 40+ employees spend two to three days offsite each week, visiting with clients. Employees use VPN for remote access to their physical file server, located in their London office.

When many employees were using VPN to access files, their file server would act up, slow down and at times block access to critical business files.

Sid Simmons, Founder and Chairman of Incite, knew he had to look for an alternate solution and discussed options with their outsourced IT partner, Dunston IT.

THE SOLUTION AND BENEFITS FOR THE CLIENT

Incite was not ready to immediately replace their physical file server and rely solely on a cloud/hosted solution. Some internet speeds in the Covent Garden area in London are slow, and employees needed quick local access to files when in the office.

Sid Simmons was attracted to an IT solution that would combine the cloud with synchronised local storage.

The chosen solution allows Incite employees to have reliable remote access to their cloud files, and quick local access when working in the office. It automatically synchronises changes made to local and cloud/hosted files. Additionally, many employees use software applications on their iPad and iPhones to access their files on the road.

With the file storage being both onsite and offsite, Incite has two ways to access its files. If the onsite system plays up they can use the cloud files to work on and vice versa. This means that they can avoid unnecessary business interruption when accessing and using files.

The chosen solution addresses the critical IT infrastructure needs of businesses including - file storage, backup, sharing and collaboration - in one secure, centrally managed and easy-to-use IT solution.
